Partnership

As part of getting involved with the local community, 5th and 6th Class took part in Cumann na mBunscol in September this year. We trained hard with Mrs Meade and developed our football skills. We took part in a league where we played 6 matches and 4 of which we won! It was an amazing experience and we look forward to this opportunity becoming an annual thing.

We loved this so much that we got involved in a Portlaoise Gaelic football blitz in November. This was run by GAA Urban Development Programme. It was run over 4 days and on the final day our dreams came true we got to play in O’Moore Park! It was lots of fun! We hope O’Moore Park is the first step on the road to Croker!

Following this in December and January 3rd to 6th Class participated in a series of Athletics with Laois Sports Partnership. We really enjoyed this experience. Peter and the other instructors were outstanding!

3rd to 6th Class are getting very excited to upskill with Shay Dooley from Laois Sports Partnership in basketball. After this we can look forward to a basketball blitz with neighbouring schools. Watch this space for updates on our involvement with Partnerships in the local community……..

5th and 6th Class get on their bikes!

On the 26th of February 5th and 6th class adopted a ‘Cycling’ initiative in the school. Every Tuesday they learn to cycle whilst learning the safety of cycling too. They are preparing to cycle on the main road. They are really enjoying it. Wave when you see them !!
