On the 4th of December 2022 Maryborough NS held a Christmas Concert to celebrate 125 years since it welcomed its first pupils through the doors. It was a fantastic evening enjoyed by all who attended our wonderful celebration. Poetry, song and music was performed by pupils past and present, by current staff members, and by friends of the wider school community. We were delighted to be joined in our audience by past pupils, previous principals and staff members, members of our Boards of Management, parishioners and so many of our families and acquaintances ‘old and new’. A selection of memorabilia from days gone by was on display too, which included some of the roll books and many photos of pupils and staff through the years.
A beautiful framed piece of history gifted to the school, will now be proudly displayed in our school hall: It contains a black and white photo of the first pupils and staff at our school all those years ago, and this is contrasted with a second recent colour photo of our current pupils, both taken on the grounds of St. Peter’s Church. In the centre of these pictures, is a brief account outlining the Maryborough NS story down through the years.
We are delighted to say that the money raised at this event will go towards purchasing our much anticipated ukuleles! We hope our musical journey will continue to flourish as we embark on the next 125 years of learning and education at our wonderful Maryborough NS.
